Matilda JR is the story of an extraordinary little girl with a wonderful imagination and extraordinary powers. She's unloved by her cruel parents, but finds refuge in library books, which she reads quickly and creates her own stories. She impresses her schoolteacher, the highly lovable Miss Honey, who recognizes and also appreciates Matilda's extraordinary personality.. Matilda's school life isn't completely smooth sailing, however – the school's mean headmistress, Miss Trunchbull, hates children and just loves thinking up new punishments for those who don't abide by her rules. Brave little Matilda knows she has to stand up against the adults in her world, and in doing so, discovers her own remarkable powers. Matilda’s bravery teaches Miss Honey and her classmates an important lesson -- that even though life can be hard, “nobody but me is gonna change my story” so “sometimes you have to be a little bit naughty.” Packed with high-energy dance numbers and catchy songs, Matilda JR. is a joyous power romp with many roles for both girls and boys.
